New York (NNI) - WhatsApp, an international social media communications platform, has announced the withdrawal of a controversial decision to change its consumer privacy policy, the company has adopted a new privacy policy regarding consumer privacy. WhatsApp has postponed the amendment to the application service terms because of user’s protests. The company said no accounts would be closed on February 8. The company said it was seeking clarification of misinformation about the new privacy and security policy.
The company said the latest update could make the collection and use of data more transparent. The latest update does not expand the database for sharing data with Facebook. WhatsApp had warned its two billion users a few days ago to update its privacy policy, saying that the users have to accept its new privacy policy if they want to use WhatsApp. The new terms, introduced in early 2021, have caused outrage among geeks, privacy experts, business people and government organizations, and a large number of people have decided not to use Whatsapp anymore. Encrypted Messaging Applications Signals and Telegram has seen a significant increase in the number of downloads from Apple and the Google App Store. While the WhatsApp application, owned by Facebook, has been experiencing slow growth because of its recent change in the privacy policy, the company has recently been forced to clarify a privacy update sent to users.
